The
picturesque Buckinghamshire Chilterns village holds a festival every couple of
years. The festival normally has a musical, cooking demonstration, jazz evening,
cabaret supper and talks. There is entertainment for all age groups and the festival
will attract visitors from neighbouring towns and villages.
In
2009 the Speen Festival had more than 3000 visitors. The festival takes
months of organisation with a steering committee and numerous sub committees and
everyone is prepared when the festival starts on the 8th of September. It runs
for eleven days until Sunday 18th September when there is a concert on the village
playing fields.
Gráinne
Suter
of jml Training and Consultancy said "jml Training
is very pleased to be one of the sponsors of this festival. It is most important
for local business to participate within the community by either sponsoring or
providing a service.
We
wish the 2011 Speen Festival every success and I am sure visitors will really
enjoy the great occasion".
The
events the festival are putting on will be really first class however one thing
you cannot guarantee will be the weather. In 2009 they were very fortunate with
the weather following a not too brilliant summer. The majority of the events are
under "waterproof conditions" - village marquee, pub, village hall or Baptist
chapel and hopefully the weather will be good this year. Like any event when you
are relying on good weather, you still have to be prepared.
jml-training is
one of the sponsors of the Cabaret Supper which is described as "An
intoxicating and stylish evening of food, drink & entertainment with a twist of
Art Nouveau. The Festival ends as it began with a riotous ball in a hilltop village
surrounded by woodland - only 100 years on. Some regular and some surprising events
come together to form our homegrown, and sumptuous, cabaret supper"
It is being held on Saturday 17 September 6.45pm - late - Tickets: £25 (including
a reception drink and 3 course meal) · Advance booking essential· Licensed bar·
Other
sponsors include chartered accountants, solicitors and estate agents..
